International Forum: Rejecting “cultural” justifications
for violence against women
To mark the International Day for the Elimination of All
Forms of Violence Against Women (declared on 25 November by the United
Nations), we invite you to an international forum on ‘Culture’, Women,
Violence: rejecting ‘cultural’ justifications for violence against women, on
Tuesday 27 November 2007, 3:30 to
6:30 p.m. at the Cultural and
Convention Center, Middle East Technical University (METU), Ankara, Turkey.
Speakers will include: Yakin Erturk (UN), Shadi Sadr (Iran),
Canan Arın (Turkey), Frances Kissling (USA), Shareen Gokal (AWID) and
Vivienne Wee (WEMC).
